Frequently Asked Questions

Who must complete SBA Form 413?
Each proprietor, general partner, managing member, guarantor, and owner of 20% or more typically completes a 413. Lenders may ask additional owners. Use the current SBA form version. Each person signs and dates their own statement.
What must be listed on Form 413?
All personal assets (cash, retirement, real estate, businesses) and all liabilities (mortgages, notes, credit cards, taxes, alimony). Business assets already on the company balance sheet should not be double-counted as personal unless you are a sole prop. Attach schedules that foot to the totals.
Does my spouse have to sign?
In community-property states, the spouse often must sign even if they are not a borrower. Elsewhere, a spouse who is a guarantor or joint owner of listed assets may need to sign. Your lender will apply SBA and state rules. Do not leave the spouse block blank without asking.
How current must the 413 be?
Lenders commonly require a 413 dated within 90 days of application or approval. If balances change materially, update it. Supporting statements should be the same vintage as the form so the credit memo ties out.
