AR-11 Checklist: Change of Address Notification

Immigration Attorney and Change of Address Resource

Report a change of address with our Form AR-11 checklist. Federal law requires most non-U.S. citizens in the United States—including lawful permanent residents, visa holders, and people with pending applications—to notify USCIS within 10 days of moving. This checklist helps immigration attorneys, paralegals, and applicants gather the information needed to file online or on paper: A-number or I-94, old and new addresses, and names of family members at the new address. Filing AR-11 keeps notices, receipts, and decisions from going to the wrong place. Confirm current instructions and any online option on USCIS.gov. Not legal advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who must file Form AR-11?
Most non-U.S. citizens who are in the United States for more than 30 days must report a change of address to USCIS within 10 days of moving. That includes green card holders, many visa holders, and people with pending applications. Some diplomatic categories are excepted. Check current USCIS instructions for your status.
Is AR-11 the same as changing the address on a pending case?
AR-11 is the change-of-address notification required by statute. A pending case (I-485, I-765, I-90, and others) may also need an address update in the online account or on the form's instructions so that receipts and interview notices reach you. Do both when the instructions require it.
What information do I need to file AR-11?
You typically need your full name, A-number or I-94 number, date of birth, country of citizenship, old and new U.S. addresses, date you moved, and the names of other aliens living at the new address. Have a copy of your green card, I-94, or EAD available so numbers match the record.
Can I file AR-11 online?
USCIS offers an online change-of-address tool for many filers. Paper Form AR-11 remains available. Use the current edition and filing method on USCIS.gov. Keep a confirmation or a copy of what you submitted with the date.
